Thousands of Romanians protested against illegal logging and for the strict protection of primary and secular forests in Romania, which still hosts two thirds of all old-growth woodlands on the continent and rare animal species, making it ”the Amazon of Europe”. Simultaneous protests took place in Bucharest and 20 other Romanian cities, but also in Bruxelles, London, Madrid, Zürich or Prague.
