Psichiatra di professione, riusciva a scolpire storie di pathos crudelmente quotidiano. Si avvaleva anche di uno degli stili vocali piu` “crudi” di tutti i tempi, un mugugno ubriaco e senile da far invidia a Captain Beefheart, ma che all’occasione poteva mutarsi in un sanguigno Van Morrison degli emarginati. L’arrangiamento non era meno spartano e bizzarro. Semplicemente Blues. E Kevin Coyne su quello inglese ha lasciato un segno sicuramente indelebile.
